Two March of Dimes Leaders Now Leading the Nation in New Administration Positions

On March 18, 2009, the U.S. Senate confirmed former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk to be U.S. Trade Representative.  Kirk has been a March of Dimes volunteer for more than 30 years and served as a member of the March of Dimes National Board of Trustees from 2003-2008.

On May 18, 2009, the U.S. Senate confirmed Margaret A. Hamburg as the head of the Food and Drug Administration. Hamburg, who headed New York City’s public health department and developed the federal government’s pandemic disease response plan, is a founding member of the March of Dimes Public Policy Council.
